Two aspects come to mind regarding the fighting and killing
throughout the Middle East; one is that it is bad, and the other is that it is
really bad. Joel C. Rosenberg offers a blog giving a Christian perspective of
the fighting in Gaza, and he warns Christians about being too harsh on all
Palestinians. (full article here) In my heart I want to agree with him. I would
like to think that there are Muslims who simply want to live, raise their
children, and practice their religion peaceably.
Then the really bad part comes into play. Tom Rogan
published an article (herehere) and it is not for the squeamish. It describes the
abominations that the Islamic State preaches and practices as this group of
murderers solidifies its grip on a swath of land in both Iraq and Iran. To make
matters worse, if possible, is that the video is used as a recruiting
film.
It is hard to believe that both of these groups claim to
worship Allah. How can they possibly read their Koranic passages and come to
the differing conclusions that the moderates claim to believe when compared to
the ISIS renegades’ actions? As Christians we can only pray for God’s guidance
in dealing with these people. I, for one, am conflicted with my prayers. While
I grieve at the thought of children being killed while being used as shields
for Hamas, I am outraged at the thought of the barbarians running amok in Iraq
and Iran, and in Gaza. God knows how He will deal with them. But if He ever
asks for my opinion, I certainly have one.
