I don’t know where to begin. Much as already been written and spoken about the Obama
speech last week at the National Prayer Breakfast. By the way, all we ever hear
about is the speech; did anyone get around to praying? Surely and hopefully it
wasn’t our President because all he can do is lecture and I doubt God, if Obama
does indeed see fit to believe in Almighty God, would appreciate Obama’s tips
on how to manage all of creation. There is a good article from NRO regarding
Obama’s flippant treatise on the history of religion and in particular the
Crusades, here.
I know that is already too late for this question, but just
what are we able to point out as a strong suit for Obama? It can’t be foreign
policy because Putin routinely out maneuvers him, even without a shirt. Merkel
of Germany is now taking the lead in trying to head off a military
confrontation in Ukraine since many of the European countries are already
balking at further sanctions. Iran is farther along on its’ quest for a nuclear
weapon and Obama gave up any leverage by reducing sanctions before the Mullahs
had to agree to anything. The same storyline was followed in Cuba. Even if
diplomatic recognition is good in the long run, why didn’t Obama at least ask
them if they would concede something? And of course we still have the
Afghanistan pullout by schedule instead of by progress, the ISIS butchery due
to leaving Iraq in a vacuum, the infamous “leading from behind” in Libya, and
of course the Benghazi fiasco. And speaking of “leading from behind”, what does
“wrong side of history” mean?
I doubt anyone of right mind would counter and say his
domestic policy efforts have been stellar. We have finally achieved economic
growth but our unemployment, according to the pollster Gallop, is nothing but a
smoke and mirrors activity. Instead of improving race relations, most societal
pundits believe they have worsened. The bellwether of his administration is the
Obamacare adventure and even the President either doesn’t understand how it
works at best, or at worst, he is a liar. We have opened our borders to illegal
immigrants, although liberal media frown on calling them illegal. And of
course, all of this is enhanced by an abundance of presidential executive
orders that are blatantly at odds with the Constitution.
But is the worst yet to come? There are two more years to go
and our Republican office holders in Washington do not seem inclined to offer
pushback.
