If you follow politics, and it seems that all of us have to
at some point in the day, then you need to keep your eye on the Obama
administration over the next few days. This administration appears to handle
significant events much the way a carnival huckster handles the old “keep your
eye on the ball trick”. That’s the game where the sideshow carnie places a ball
under a cup or some other movable hiding place and then moves them around
quickly to trick your eyes into forgetting where the ball was originally
placed.
Today we saw President Obama come out and offer up to the
American people what we already know; the Affordable Care Act, which was
originally and proudly called Obamacare before it turned in to a cesspool, is
having some problems getting off the ground. He again promised to get it all
fixed and have the website in what we are to assume is an operable state by
November 30. What we need to understand is that the ball has now been placed
under the cup. The ball in this case is the current political issue, much like
the Benghazi mess or the Syrian redline fiasco.
President Obama will now start to move all over the table,
possibly to a new immigration status for illegal immigrants, maybe back to the
tried and true red herring called global warming, or maybe a quick gambit into
the foreign policy arena trying to remove sanctions on Iran. It would be good if President Obama,
when faced with a political crisis, could retreat into his area of strongest
capability. The problem is that
his strong suit was supposed to be domestic policy and that seems to be racked
with incompetence. It may be better that he just plays golf.
I started to just stop writing at this point and then thought the better of it. I read a very good article by Jonah Goldberg (full article here) where he pokes a great deal of humor and facts at the state of the Obama presidency and ends stating that he will enjoy the impending failure of Obamacare and this president, in part because of the attitude President Obama displays. I have to fight that same desire but I am reminded that I should be praying for Barack Obama to have wisdom and to seek to understand God's will for our nation. When I see the result of our President's actions and the goals he is trying to obtain, I can think of no American president who would be in greater need of all Christian's prayers.
