The Muslim
Brotherhood is cementing its hold on Egypt and the military and by published
accounts they are pushing to break diplomatic ties with Israel. We already know
where the government of Iran stands with regard to Israel, our only real ally
in the Middle East. And then we add in the shameful display of ineptitude in
Benghazi and you have an entire region that will now ponder how we will act in
the next crises.
We have plenty of examples in our recent history that offer
the United States a bitter lesson that ruthless leaders only respect military
strength. And speaking of ruthless leaders, Kim Jong-um, the latest in the
Korean family of tyrannical and brutal rulers is currently purging the military
of anyone who might be a threat to his power. He is only twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old and yet he
appears to have an ingrained sense of butchery that will only get worse. Last week he had Kim Chol, the vice
minister of the army taken into custody for his failure to properly morn the
death of Kim’s father, Kim Jong-il. He was taken to an artillery range, made to
stand in a prearranged spot and then had a mortar round fired at that spot to
completely obliterate him. Kim said he wanted “no trace of him behind, down to
his hair.” (here) These type of people can only be dealt with through military
strength.
