I believe it is a common goal for people not to seek change.
Oh I know that the politically correct idea to champion is that change is good
and all of us need to accept and revel in our ability to adapt. That is what we
were always told when I worked for Dell, Inc. whenever the vice president de
jure imparted some new and game changing (their words, not mine) business plan
or idea. I always secretly wondered if higher management even believed it.
Our country is no different. It can be easily argued that we
just elected the same president simply because we didn’t want change, even when
the continued status offers only the greater possibility of more unemployment
and taxes. But I would suggest that life either gets better or it gets worse.
George Friedman of Stratfor recently penned that the United
States was being granted some breathing room. (here) He compares the United
States with the economic conditions in the European Union and China and states
that the American economy is not doing anything well, it is just not as bad as
those of the EU or China. I think
this is a viewpoint whereby he assumes that people and countries simply hang
on. There is no guarantee that any country will continue to exist, other than
Israel for those of us who believe Biblical scripture. History is replete with countries and
empires that ceased to exist. Spoke to any Carthaginians lately? How about
Romans (not the city!)? Hitler’s thousand-year Germanic empire came up short by
about nine hundred and eighty-plus years.
The sun certainly sets on the British Empire on a daily basis, now.
There are too many threatening people and ideas constantly
working against the traditional American values and nationality to just sit
still. Those of you who have followed this blog have read my posts regarding
Islam and the threat it poses. If we simply assume that all will be fine and
the government will do only good things for us we will be following Europe into
cultural and national oblivion. Belgium is an excellent example of this
scenario. (here). The coordinated
danger that Islam presents is currently at work all over the United States. (here)
This is no time to sit back and assume we will weather the
storm. We need to stop playing with our I-pads, videos, and headphones and
observe what is happening around us. This country that has allowed us to become
so me-centered is not doing us any favors.
